There were multiple opinions as to why this beautiful sperm whale came so close inshore to the point of almost stranding itself. Some thought it was sick and came to die, some thought it was driven in by sonar as used by oil industry and navy submarines, others thought the recent earthquake was to blame. If the whale was singing its last song, what would it be and who would be able to hear it from this confined space it was swimming in. In this print the whale is surrounded by Slavonian grebes who not only can hear the song but are singing back in unison and reverence for the life of this beautiful wisdom keeper.
