Avian influenza, which has been decimating bird colonies throughout Shetland and gannets in particular have been hit very hard. Beaches are littered with dead and dying birds, and cliffs that should be teeming with the noisy cacophony of gannets are silent and empty. This print does not dwell on death, it celebrates the life of this glowing shape shifting bird that can pass through air and water, completely at one with the dynamic ecosystem of the ocean. Here the birds move between the realms of air and water, in an abundance of life, light and energy. Angels of the north.
