David Danson Black was the hated Laird of the valley responsible for the clearances of people off the land to make way for profitable sheep. When the giant windfarm was first proposed, the term second wave of clearances was starting to be used as a comparison to what happened before as quest for prophet came before people. Our human centric view looks first to the needs of humans but what about the creatures also cleared off the land. Two trout burns have already been made unfit for trout due to heavy metal pollutants and the hares and grouse are seen in every greater numbers closer to the roads. They have been cleared from the land. The legacy of David Danson black lives on in the shadowed valley.
