Always Remember the Goldfinches 3

One of three paintings from the evolving sequence of oils I’m working on ‘In Search of The Green Man’ exploring the regeneration of nature in former industrial sites in The Black Country. My working method is essentially to walk around, being led wherever I’m led, seeking out beauty amongst the scarred landscapes. Beauty comes in many shapes and forms and sometimes might just be a fleeting flash of colour by a passing bird as in the case of the goldfinches which are very numerous. Sometimes it can be easy to take the common bird’s fore-granted, but goldfinches are amongst the most beautiful of British birds, which is why I always try to remember them.
