ENQUIRE

The scene of this drawing is the power press room of the factory I worked in for four years. metal strip was fed in at one end, whilst the machine banged it into shapes. The noise was deafening with dozens of these machines banging at the same time. My job was to pull out the scarp metal from underneath each machine and weigh it into 60 kg the chests which at the time I was able to lift and stack. I also had to degrease the good parts using a toxic chemical called trichloroethane, a scene which is captured in the large drawing ‘The Degreaser.
