‘They Came to Pray- is call to prayer set on the Sandness pier. The brightly coloured boats assemble around a building that is lit by a bright inner light that shines through stained glass windows. The colour and light from the church is echoed in the colour of the boats that act like holding places and carriers of the human spirit . The building welcomes us within without telling us who these people who what are they praying for. Meanwhile in Melby loch the whooper Swans glow white against the darkening shadow of Sandness Hill.
