Alex Purbrick is a visionary artist from Shetland that sees and experiences the landscape in expansive ways through word ,image and music. At the black volcanic rocks at Tingon , Alex heard a song which I recorded for her , which went on to become ‘The Tingon Water Song ‘ and has since been transcribed for Shetland fiddle as well as inspiring this painting . In my painting it is the rocks themselves that sing as they meet the healing power of water, because when fire and water meet life is possible.
