ENQUIRE
This painting is all about the regenerative power of nature. Inspired by a valley in Shetland where water flows and a few original relic trees grow on one of the steep banks where they are protected from the relentless grazing all around by sheep. The interlocking beaks of the curlews symbolise the coming together of male and female energy and the possibility of new life. The green on the two sides represents the future greening of the land that is still possible, because the spirit of the trees is still present and given the chance they will return again.
A Norse creation story tells how life was created in the space between fire and ice and this painting picks up on some of that elemental energy flow between sun, water and land.

When light and water meet and mix, life becomes possible.
